ASSESSMENT OF CONCENTRATION AND DISPERSION OF AIRCRAFT EXHAUST EMISSIONS

This paper deals with the analysis of available data on Yugoslav aircraft fleet, aircraft movements and flights over the territory in conjunction with the consumption of jet fuels as the primary source of air pollution. The available data serve the authors to assess the share of air transport in overall regional and global aspect of pollution of the atmosphere over the airport of Zagreb.
Respective concentrations of aircraft exhaust gases are rather great. In the year 1987 air transport activities at Zagreb Airport accounted for 418 000 kg HC, 483 000 kg CO and 757000 kg NO v sent in to the atmosphere in the airport area as viewed regionally and 1.22 10 kg HC, 9.9710 kg CO and 9.910 B kg NOX originating from the flights over the territory viewed as the values of global pollution of the atmosphere.

It is estimated that air pollution due to air transport activities has been increased proportionally to aircraft movements (10.85 %), flights over the territory (7.5 %) and fuel consumption (12.7 %).
