THE QUALITY OF THE RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE IN YUGOSLAVIA WITH A VIEW ON THE OFFER FOR A TRANSIT MEANS OF TRANSPORT

The author analyses the quality of the Yugoslav railway lines with regard to the per-mitted load per axle and the permitted speeds. He compares that with the state in the EC. He considers passengers and goods-traffic separately, with an accent on the performance of the transit railway network. He pleads that it is important for the main lines to be made useable for higher speeds because the railways have fallen behind Western Europe by as much as 20 years.
