THE POSSIBLE DIRECTION OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE YUGOSLAV RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE WITH THE AIM OF ADAPTING IT TO THE DEMANDE OF THE EC
The author evaluates the state of Yugoslavia's main railway line Jesenice to Gevgelija as being totally un-satisfactory because it was built during the last century for small - axle loads and low speeds. As a result of this the participation of the railways in direct transit is constantly on the decrease. The author pleads for a gradual modernisation of certain line parts, with the aim of shortening travelling ti- me and of forming a southern transversal.
