NEW PORT CARGO HANDLING TECHNIQUES AND TRAINING OF PORT MANIPULATION EQUIPMENT OPERATORS

Improvements in port cargo handling procedures, introduction of mechanized operations, and new technology of work set the requirement for specialized port personnel on assignments as the operators of expensive and sophisticated reloading and transportation equipment. Higher level of mechanization in the technological process of port operations, with lesser employment of physical manual labour, calls for advanced knowledge and skills of the manpower.

Training institutions are required to provide adequate training programs and adopt a more modern approach to teaching in the process of education of port personnel.

Positive experience of some world training institutions show that in addition to theoretical training considerable attention has been paid to practical training, i.e. on-the-job training of future operators in conjunction with the employment of modern electronic teaching aids.
