RAIL TRANSPORT IN THE SERVICE OF TOURIST TRADE DEVELOPMENT

This paper reiterates the requirement for improvement of the role played by Yugoslav Railways in holiday transport/travel, providing information on some present and planned future activities in this respect. Particular emphasis is assigned to the significance of cooperation with travel agencies and tour operators, both those operating within the scope of Yugoslav Railways and those outside the parent organization. The review covers the limitation factors present in these efforts and activities with self-criticism-oriented emphasis on the requirement for a change in attitude and behaviour and the introduction of new activities planned by the Yugoslav Railways, with the particular objective of promotion of advanced-level services in the transport of foreign tourists.
