MARITIME POLICY AS AN ELEMENT OF TOURIST TRADE DEVELOPMENT

Starting from the statement that the SFR of Yugoslavia qualifies on the account of the Adriatic sea as a tourist destination, i.e. country, the author exposes his belief that the maritime policy should constitute an essential element of tourist trade development in the country. Within this scope the paper provides a brief review of the reported development, that is, stagnation of the Adriatic Passenger Fleet, abandoning of traditional passenger services and shifting to the ferry-boat services in the post-war period while the closing section presents recommendations arranged under 12 headings as to what economic measures should be taken in this significant traffic segment in conformance with all-Yugoslav long-term interests.
