POSTAL TRAFFIC IN THE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT OF THE DALMATIAN SUBREGION

This paper deals in a systematic manner with the dynamic and growth aspect of postal traffic reported of the Dalmatian subregion (Split, Šibenik, Zadar) in the course of the tourist travel season in the period of 1986–1988. The results of the research completed establish pronounced seasonal fluctuations of postal traffic in individual subgroups of postal services and automatic telephone communications. Furthermore, this paper refers to the possibility of a relatively timely extension and modernization of the telecommunications system to meet the requirements of demand on the part of users in a more expeditious way, in view of tourists visiting this region, i.e. the demand for modern postal services, especially in the field of telecommunications.
