LEVEL OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, STRUCTURE OF THE ECONOMY, AND CONDITION OF THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM –
INTERACTIONS AND INTERDEPENDENCY
Telecommunications systems in the world develop by exponential progression. The average annual world growth rate of new telephone connections over the decade of 1977–1987 is 5.4% ranging from 2.1 (Sweden) to 22.6 (Saudi Arabia). The number of telephone connections has also been on a constant increase, while the average annual world growth rate has varied between 4 and 5% over a longer period of time. Over the past few years telex, videotex, and mobile radio-telephone systems have all listed high growth rates.
