MODEL FOR DEFINING THE CAPACITIES OF MODERN TERMINALS AND INTEGRATED TRANSPORT SYSTEMS
The elaboration of a model for development of capacities of modern transport systems and in this respect the required pallets and containers in all transport industries sets the requirement of an advanced preliminary marketing research of freight volumes in order to be able to define the appropriate terminals, motor fleet and manipulation equipment. The more so because the means of modern transport technologies are extremely costly, so that each and every possible investment failure causes major losses far greater than reported of conventional transport technologies. Based on the acquired knowledge in conjunction with standardized pallets, containers, etc., by application of the appropriate model and formulas we arrive at the optimum required modern fleet and manipulation equipment information, required containers, pallets etc. in all transport industries. Theoretical bases of the applied and supplemented model have been deducted as applicable on the example of a preliminary (general) design for construction of the future container/piggy- back terminal in Zagreb (for shipping containers) In the process of elaboration of the system of paletization a system has been elaborated applicable to all transport branches.
