FIRE HAZARDS AND CONSEQUENCES IN TOURIST AND TRAFFIC ASPECTS IN THE SR OF CROATIA

The status of fire fighting in traffic and tourist aspects is the matter of immediate concern because, in spite of all taken measures, the number of fires in this area is still rather high. On the other hand, fires take a toll in human lives, incur massive material losses, jeopardize the economic/industrial potential of the country with particular reference to tourist destinations, deteriorate the environment from the ecological and other aspects, including the most attractive areas (flora and fauna) of the holiday regions.
In view of the above it is necessary to organize traffic flows/volumes during the holiday season to have the best possible volume absorbing capacity of traffic routes - i.e. the most efficient one, because the vehicles represent among other causes the foremost generators of fire; therefore vehicles should stop on route sections or along the routes for as short periods as possible, while all technical problems, traffic accidents and other incidents should be spotted on a timely basis and eliminated, thus enabling a quicker flow of vehicles, and consequently higher capacity of traffic routes in the holiday season, which understands at the same time a decrease of possible causes (generators) of fire hazards.

The objective rests in a permanent increase of efforts of all social factors, primarily the bodies of the socio - political system and other bodies and communities, in the area of fire fighting measures in all communities and on all levels, with particular reference to tourist and traffic aspects in the SR of Croatia and the country.
