SEABORNE COASTAL LINER SERVICES AS AN ASPECT OF TOURIST TRADE DEVELOPMENT

The author reiterates a very high level of correlation of the tourist numbers in seaside towns and passenger numbers in coastal liner services to draw a conclusion that no further growth of tourist industry in the island region is possible without further development of the fleet and improved traffic links between the islands and the mainland. Due to a seasonal character of the island tourism its further development will exhibit its influence on the appearance of still higher seasonal variations in passenger and vehicle transport which the existing capacities cannot handle in terms of required quality.
