ROLE OF RAIL LINKS IN DEVELOPMENT OF TOURIST TRADE IN SAMOBOR
The author discusses the issue of the need felt by inhabitants of major urban areas for development of excursion places in their vicinity. In this concern the author gives the history of development of tourist trade in Samobor, a town 20 kilometers from Zagreb, especially after the construction of narrow-gauge Zagreb–Samobor railway line and its official opening in the year 1901. He explains subsequent neglecting and final cancellation of this service in 1979 and pleads for the construction of a new track of regular gauge on this route.
